Estimated 500,000 Attend West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnaval

Several injuries and arrests are reported.

Several people were injured and there were a few arrests, but overall the West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnaval was free of major incidents Thursday night, although two were shot and about 75 were arrested nearby in Hollywood. 

One person suffered accidental burns at 10:25 p.m. Thursday in the 8500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, near one of the performance stages at the carnaval, which drew an estimated half-million people.

The victim -- said to be a 50-year-old man -- was taken to a hospital in unspecified condition, said Rey Dong, supervising dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

According to KCAL9, the man was burned accidentally and taken to Cedars- Sinai Medical Center.

One person suffered a head injury in the area of Hilldale Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood and was taken to a hospital at about 11:20 p.m. Thursday, county fire dispatcher Ed Pickett said.

There were four arrested in Weho and a total of 46 people sent to the hospital, according to the Los Angeles Times.
