UPDATED: Man Fatally Stabbed in West Hollywood

A man who allegedly stabbed his roommate to death in their West Hollywood apartment and overdosed on pills was in custody today.

"The suspect appeared to have taken a large amount of pills and was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation prior to booking," Deputy Crystal Hernandez of the sheriff's West Hollywood Station said.

Detectives have some indication of a motive, she said.

"Preliminary information indicated that the suspect and the victim were in an intimate relationship and were living together at the location," she said.

Neither man's name was available as of about midday.

Deputies were sent to an apartment in the 900 block of Palm Avenue at 4:56 p.m. Saturday, initially to do a welfare check on someone. It was unclear who called authorities.

"Upon their arrival, the deputies were informed that the individual who lived at the location may have killed his roommate and was thinking about killing himself," Hernandez said. "After no response in the apartment, the deputies forced entry and discovered the victim."

A man on the kitchen floor had been stabbed, she said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Deputies found the suspect in a bathroom, she said.
