Man Arrested in Weho for Allegedly Stalking Comedian

The Belgian national has been booked at the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

A Belgium man allegedly fixated on comedian Esther Povitsky was arrested by sheriff's deputies in West Hollywood Tuesday.

Pierre Van Lint sent Povitsky emails from Belgium over the past eight months. Deputies reported the content had become more aggressive and inappropriate.

He was arrested at 8 a.m. at a motel in the 6800 block of Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, said Deputy Lillian Peck.

Van Lint had never met Povitsky, and wrote to her last Friday that he was in Los Angeles. Povitsky later learned that he had indeed turned up at a comedy club where she worked in West Hollywood and decided to contact the sheriff's department.

Povitsky, who works the Hollywood comedy circuit as "Little Esther," decided to allow her name to be released to raise awareness of the issue of entertainment figures being stalked.
