Man Impales Leg While Seeking View in Hills

The unidentified man is taken to the hospital early Friday with stable vital signs.

An intoxicated man who said he climbed the wall of a high-end house in a posh Hollywood Hills neighborhood to get a view of the city lights ended up impaled on a wrought iron fence early Friday, suffering a leg wound.

The man's right leg—in the thigh area, according to a news photographer at the scene—was skewered on a tall section of the fence at 1236 N. Sierra Alta Way, according to Cecil Manresa of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The man, who is around 25, was rescued by firefighters dispatched to the scene at 12:14 a.m. and taken to a hospital, Manresa said, adding his vital signs were stable.

The property where the incident occurred is located just above the Sunset Strip.

Firefighters cut off a section of the fence, which sat atop a masonry wall near the entry gate of the property, and transported the man with the piece of wrought iron still attached to his leg, a photographer reported.

The man had been drinking and said he was trying to get a view of the city, an officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station reported.

The man had no business in the neighborhood, the officer said, adding that it was not immediately determined if he will be charged with trespassing or any other crime.

Thanks to Judge Alarcon soon all the public streets in the Hills can be gated and turned into private encalves for the Rich and Famous. Although the law says the city may not aurthorize the gating of a public street to form a private community, Judge Alacron says it is OK to make you own little community if the people are very wealthy and live in the Hills. If there had been gates down on Sunset, then this guy never would have gotten that far into the Hills.

Clearly he had no business being there. That's what happens when people get drunk and do dumb things. You suffer the consequences and hopefully you live and you learn.

Our gardner did this same thing on our neighbor's gate a few weeks ago; he'd forgotten the key to her gate, so he tried to climb over her wrought-iron gate with spikes in it. Since he's our gardner, too, we patched him up as best we could with our emergency supplies. He didn't wait for paramedics. He just lifted himself off the spike, and my husband patched him up. I hope he remembered to get a shot from his doctor, after wards. Now he seems to have no trouble, and he makes it a POINT to never, ever forget his keys to her gate, now! It was horribly painful for him.
