UPDATE: Giants Pitcher Injured in Weho Car Crash

Barry Zito sustains minor injuries in the two-car collision on Sunset Boulevard and is determined not to have been at fault.

San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito underwent an MRI Thursday afternoon, following a two-car collision in West Hollywood on Wednesday night, according to Jim Moorehead, the Giants senior director of media relations.

Zito was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with minor injuries and released Thursday morning, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Ana Brackpool of the West Hollywood Station told City News Service. 

The collision occurred around 7:50 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Sunset Plaza Drive, according to the report. It was unclear what caused the crash, Brackpool said.

Zito was determined not to have been at fault. The other driver was not injured.

The Giants opened the season Thursday at 5 p.m. against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Zito is scheduled to pitch Sunday.
