Fire Blazes Through Fountain Avenue Home

It took LA County firefighters about one hour to contain the large structure fire.

A fire erupted at a home on Fountain Avenue Tuesday night. Residents were evacuated, said West Hollywood Sheriff's Deputy McNally.

The fire at 7516 Fountain Ave. was reported around 11:30 p.m. It was contained in about one hour by firefighters from Los Angeles County Fire Stations 7 and 8, McNally said.

"The residential structure is an entire loss," said Gerald Ortega, who lives next door. "What appeared to be a newer model BMW exploded, setting afire other cars parked next to it."

McNally said he believes the blaze may have started out with a car, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
