Sheriff's Deputies Arrest 3 Purse Snatchers Outside Pavilions

The men are booked on charges of armed robbery, says a watch commander at the West Hollywood station.

Three men who robbed three people at knifepoint outside a market in West Hollywood were arrested this morning, authorities said.

The robberies took place outside the at 8969 Santa Monica Blvd. about 2 a.m., said sheriff's Sgt. Shawn Ruda, watch commander at the West Hollywood station.

"The suspects stole purses and wallets from the three people, but did not hurt any of their victims," Ruda said.

A description of the suspects' getaway vehicle was given to responding deputies and broadcast over the air, Ruda said.

A Beverly Hills police sergeant said his officers spotted the car and pulled it over near the corner of Santa Monica and Beverly Glen boulevards about 2:30 a.m.

"We radioed the West Hollywood sheriff's station and they sent deputies and took custody of the suspects," Dexter said.

One of the suspects was slightly injured and may have stabbed himself during the robberies, Ruda said.

"He was taken to the hospital, under arrest, for treatment of his wounds," Ruda said. "All three men will be booked on charges of armed robbery."

The names of the suspects were not immediately released.
