Sunset Strip Rocker Jani Lane Dead at 47

A coroner's investigation is under way into the death of the former Warrant front man.

Jani Lane, former lead singer of the 1980s hair band Warrant, was found dead Thursday afternoon at a Comfort Inn in the 20100 block of Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills.

Lane, born John Oswald, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 5:30 p.m. by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. The cause of death was not immediately determined and the case is under investigation, the LA Times reported.

The 47-year-old rocker was a staple on the Sunset Strip during the peak of pop metal. He partied with the best of them and received a DUI in 2009, with another in 2010, reported LA Weekly.
