British Brand

British comedian/actor Russell Brand brings his decidedly skewed brand of comedy to West Hollywood for a night. The estranged husband of singer Katy Perry, Brand came to prominence with American audiences thanks the 2008 romantic comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He’s since gone on to appear in Bedtime Stories, Get Him to the Greek and the 2011 remake of Arthur. Brand performs at at 8:30 p.m.

Jersey Shore Guy

Vinny G from the MTV reality series Jersey Shore believes each of us has the power to make our lives better in an instant simply by controlling our minds. In his new book, Control the Crazy: My Plan to Stop Stressing, Avoid Drama, and Maintain Inner Cool, Vinny G offers a step-by-step program that has helped him get a handle on his anxious mind and filled him with a sense of personal power and control that has affected every facet of his life. Vinny G discusses his book and signs copies at starting at 7 p.m.

Wacky Comedy

Funny man Andy Dick brings his wacky humor to the where he’ll serve as host of Crazy Cindy’s Comedy Show. The actor/comedian is best known for his stints on the NBC comedy Newsradio and ABC’s comedy Less Than Perfect. Showtime is 7 p.m.

Apt2B, the online furniture and housewares retailer, opens its first brick-and-mortar location with a month-long pop-up store in the old Alpha men’s fashion boutique location, 8654 Melrose Avenue (at Huntley). With DJ, cocktails, prizes and giveaways, the Apt2B launch party starts at 6 p.m.

Board meeting

The city’s Transgender Advisory Board will meet at 7 p.m. in the Community Conference Room in City Hall. The meeting is open to the public. View the meeting agenda by clicking here.

Storytime

The hosts two different storytimes. At 11:15 a.m., a toddler storytime for ages 18 to 36 months gets underway with stories, songs, fingerplay and more. Then at 3:30 p.m., a family storytime is offered for children and their parents. Both are free.

  • Go Radio with The Providence, Tyler Carter, Ivory Lights and Lido Beach at the Roxy Theatre. Show starts at 7 pm.
  • The Spazmatics with Johnny Madcap & The Distractions, Diana Gone Wrong and Monster Truck at the Viper Room. Show starts at 8 p.m.
  • Rob Farnham with Essex Lights and Concrete Rivers at the Whiskey a Go Go. Show starts at 8 p.m.
  • DELUX at House of Blues. Show starts at 8:30 p.m. 
  • Tennis with Wilde Belle at the Troubadour. Show starts at 9 p.m.
