Wednesday's Scoop: Weho Honoring 39th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade With Free Forum

Pro-choice advocates and political activists will discuss the fight for reproductive freedom at the NCJW/LA Council House today to recognize the landmark Supreme Court decision in 1973 that legalized abortion in the United States.

Main Event:

The Los Angeles chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women, with help from the city of West Hollywood Women's Advisory Board, is holding a free community forum at its Council House, 543 N. Fairfax Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Special guests from NARAL, Planned Parenthood and Women's Reproductive Rights Assistance Project will join the panel.

City Meetings:

  • The Pedestrian and Bicycle Subcommittee is meeting at 6 p.m. in the Community Conference Room at City Hall. The subcommittee will consider pedestrian unsignalized crosswalk design treatments, according to the agenda.
  • On the agenda for the Transportation Commission this evening is a public hearing on a five-year extension to the current taxicab franchise in West Hollywood and bicycle improvement projects. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. in the Community Conference Room.

The Forecast: Sunny, 67

Wednesday's forecast is sunny, with a high near 67, according to the National Weather Service. Wind will remain calm in West Hollywood, becoming west southwest around 5 mph, and temperatures are expected to drop to around 45.
