Wednesday's Scoop: 'Perpetual Conceptual' Exhibit to Open in Weho

Presented by the Los Angeles Nomadic Division, the exhibit focuses on the seminal art movement on La Cienega Boulevard during the late 1960s.

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Wednesday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: Perpetual Conceptual

The multi-part exhibition kicking off at 8126 - 8132 Santa Monica Blvd. in collaboration with the city of West Hollywood centers around Eugenia Butler Sr. and the conceptual projects that took place at Eugenia Butler Gallery between 1968 and 1971. The opening reception is set for 6-9 p.m.

Also Today: Wall Shadow

Coinciding with the opening of Perpetual Conceptual: Echoes of Eugenia Butler and organized as part of the Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival, LAND and Corazon del Sol present a re-creation of Eric Orr's Wall Shadow, 1970, open to the public at 8126 - 8132 Santa Monica Blvd. from noon until 6 p.m. Following the re-creation in four parts is a screening of Crazy Wisdom: The Life and Work of Eric Orr from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

City Meetings: 

  • The Senior Advisory Board is meeting at 2 p.m. in Room 5 of Plummer Park. West Hollywood sheriff's Capt. Kelly Fraser will meet with the board and answer questions about public safety in the city; Walter Davis from the city's Mobility and Long Range Planning Division will report about pedestrian improvements; and Melissa Tillman from the National Council of Jewish Women will present information about the agency's programs and volunteer opportunities, according to the agenda.
  • The Disabilities Advisory Board is meeting at 6 p.m. in the Community Conference Room. The board will receive presentations from Shirley Berry, the city's emergency management coordinator, and Sgt. Jerry Paredes of the COPPS team, about emergency preparedness, as well as the Public Works and Community Development Departments about enhancements to pedestrian-accessible traffic signals, according to the agenda.

Also Today:

  • is hosting a group reading from I'm Not the Biggest Bitch in This Relationship, featuring heartwarming tales about man's best friend from America's favorite humorists—Wade Rouse, Jiffy Wild, W. Bruce Cameron and Anna Belle Gurwitch. The event begins at 7 p.m.

The Forecast: Sunny and 81

  • It's heating up in Weho on Wednesday. The National Weather Service forecast says it will be sunny, with a high temperature near 81 degrees. Expect clear skies this evening. Temperatures are expected to drop to around 64.
