Wednesday's Scoop: Nashville Women, Healthy Seniors and Women's Forum

A country-themed "in-the-round" music session at the Gardenia Restaurant, a Healthy Seniors Fair in Plummer Park and a women's reproductive rights forum at the National Council on Jewish Women. Plus BINGO at Hamburger Marys.

Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Wednesday, May 16, the 137th day of 2012. Here’s what’s going on in West Hollywood today.

Country singer/songwriters Jane Bach and Sandra Piller, joined by local singer Karen Hart, make beautiful music together in an “in the round” session at All three ladies will take the stage at the same time, then take turns performing their own songs as the others spontaneously add harmonies. It’s a chance for locals to observe the creative process in action. Showtime is at 9 p.m.

B-I-N-G-O

Legendary Bingo is back for another night of outrageous fun and prizes at . The 7 p.m. game features celebrity caller Amanda Kimmel from TV’s Survivor, with the proceeds benefitting Forte Animal Rescue, a no-kill rescue organization based in Marina del Rey. The 9 p.m. show features stars and the director of the gay-themed comedy Going Down in La-La Land (which opens at the Chinese 6 theaters on Friday), with proceeds benefitting the Gay Men’s Chorus.

Women’s Community Forum

Actress Tyne Daly will be among those participating in a panel discussion about reproductive rights. ``War On Women” will also feature Serena Josel, director of public affairs at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles; Linda Long, vice president of California NOW and attorney Maggie Crosby of American Civil Liberties Union, Northern California. Los Angeles Times columnist Sandy Banks will moderate the panel. The community forum runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the building at 543 N. Fairfax (at Clinton). Free admission.

Healthy Seniors Fair

The 11th Annual Healthy Seniors Fair will feature presentations, health screenings and over 40 community organization booths. The goal is to provide information for living healthier lives for the city’s senior population. The Health Seniors Fair is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Center in . Admission is free and a complimentary lunch will be provided.

Transportation Commission

Zoning ordinances regarding standards for bicycle parking are on the agenda for the monthly Transportation Commission meeting. The Commission will also discuss a new Cityline bus route. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Community Conference Room in . The public is welcome to attend.

  • Hometown Letdown with Siobhan, The Conspiracy, Banddroidz and Litt Odom at the Whiskey a Go Go. Show starts at 7 p.m.
  • The Spazmatics with Ex-Gentlemen, Rob Farnham and London Souls at the Viper Room. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.  
  • The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus with Sparks the Rescue, Namesake and Rapscallions at the Roxy Theatre. Show starts at 8 p.m.
  • The BoDeans with Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers at the Troubadour. Doors open at 8 p.m.
