Wednesday's Scoop: Kosher Comedy, Pirate's Life, Lesbian Discussion

Laugh Factory hosts a night of Jewish laughs while pirates invade the West Hollywood Library. Meanwhile, the monthly lesbian discussion group meets.

Jewish Jokes

hosts a Jewish Comedy Night starting at 8 p.m. Comedians scheduled to appear are Avi Liberman, Mark Schiff, Wayne Federman, Ian Edwards and Kira Soltanovich. The jokes are part of a bi-coastal event with a similar Jewish night also happening in New York City.

A Pirate’s Life for Me

Arrr! Pirate Christopher Yates will be visiting the to tell tales of high seas expeditions. Learn what pirate life was like including navigation, knots, barnacles and booty. Visit exotic ports, encounter strange creatures and unscrupulous characters. Part of the library’s Summer Reading Program, the pirate hour starts at 3:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room.

Lesbian Discussion Group

What does family looks like in the age of greater acceptance and marriage equality? “Modern Family” is the topic for this month’s meeting of “SHE,” the new lesbian discussion group. Designed to provide an open space to build relationships, engage in dialogue and find creative solutions for issues currently facing lesbians, the group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room in the . Admission is free.

Public Facilities

The city’s Public Facilities Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. in . Items on the agenda include an update on the Santa Monica Boulevard crosswalk visibility project and an update on the automated parking garage proposed to be built behind City Hall.
