Tuesday's Scoop: Collective Soul, Skybar Sound Wall and Mastering Money

Rockers Collective Soul perform hits at House of Blues while the Skybar goes before a City Hall director regarding the sound wall it is required to erect. Plus the "Mastering Your Money" workshop series for women continues.

Get a Dosage of Collective Soul

Rockers Collective Soul, with four platinum-selling albums and seven Number One rock singles, gathers at the for a special show. Originally from Georgia, the quartet will perform their 1999 “Dosage” album and other hits from their repertoire. Doors open at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m.

Skybar Sound Wall.

The city’s Community Development Director, Anne McIntosh, who has resigned effective Friday, will hold her final monthly Community Development Director’s Hearing. On the agenda is a hearing pertaining to playing music at the pool area of Skybar at the Mondrian Hotel. Nearby residents The hearing starts at 5 p.m. in . The public is welcome to attend.

Human Services Commission

The city’s Human Services Commission holds its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. in the Community Center in On the agenda are mid-year reports about the various social services programs which the city contracts and a report about a proposed new Cityline bus route. The public is welcome to attend this meeting.

Mastering Money

The workshop series designed to help women gain a better understanding of their finances continues. “Mastering Your Money” is facilitated by Kelly Alexander, certified financial planner with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Workshop topics include investing in the stock market, planning for retirement and choosing investments for a 401(K). The series meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month through July 10. Tonight’s session runs 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Senior Lounge in the Community Center in . The workshop is free.

Lindsay-Hogg Exhibition

Film, theater and music-video director Michael Lindsay-Hogg is also an accomplished painter whose work was described as “brilliant--quirky, strange, revealing, sometimes humorous” by clothing designer Gloria Vanderbilt. The Let it Be director is now holding a solo exhibition of his paintings. “Time Alters All: A Retrospective of an Emerging Artist” shows through June 22. An opening reception hosted by Vanderbilt, Julian Sands, Jason Schwartzman and others is at 6 p.m. at 8618 Melrose Avenue (at Huntley Drive)
