Thursday's Scoop: Jackson Browne, Depraved Girls and Gay Men's Discussion Group

SoCal singer/songwriter Jackson Browne offers an intimate show at Largo while author Heather Rutman talks about "The Girls Guide to Depravity." Plus TRIBE, the monthly gay men's discussion group, meets.

Doctor My Eyes

Jackson Browne, the singer/songwriter responsible for such hits as “Doctor My Eyes,” “Running on Empty,” “Boulevard,” and “Somebody’s Baby” offers an intimate show at Largo tonight and Friday starting at 9 p.m. (doors open at 8 p.m.). Born in Germany, but raised in Highland Park, Browne was part of the early 1970s music scene that helped establish the Southern California country rock sound. The Largo website says the Thursday show is sold out, but tickets are still available for the Friday show

TRIBE Discussion Group

The monthly TRIBE discussion group for gay men will talk about social opportunities available for gay men beyond the bars, both virtual and physical. Discussion topics include why social space is important, the relationship between gay culture and physical gathering spaces and the relevancy of Pride parades and festivals, plus the opportunities and pitfalls of virtual space. TRIBE is free and meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room in .

Girls Guide to Depravity

Writer Heather Rutman has made a name for herself with her blog “The Girls Guide to Depravity.” Now she’s written a book based on that blog. Girls Guide to Depravity: How to Get Laid Without Getting Screwed is a sassy handbook comprised of fifty rules, how-to's, charts, graphs, quizzes and more for modern women trying to navigate the world's topsy-turvy dating scene. Rutman discusses and signs copies of her book at at 7 p.m.
