Saturday's Scoop: City to Celebrate MLK Day of Service, Beautify Weho Elementary

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Saturday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

In commemoration of the 26th anniversary of the MLK federal holiday, the city is joining forces with Friends of West Hollywood Elementary and the Sunset Strip Businesses Association in a beautification and maintenance project at . The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President's national call to service initiative. "It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems," according to the 2012 MLK Day website.

Runner-Up: NOFX

Deemed "one of the most successful independent punk bands of all time" by Sunset Strip expert Brent Mendoza in his "" this week, NOFX returns to the Sunset Strip for a rebel-rousing performance at the . Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $28 day of show. This is an all-ages show.
