Saturday's Scoop: Celebrate Love, Music in the Council Chambers

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Saturday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: Love Songs from a Neighboring Village

Masters of traditional Eastern European music, Michael Alpert and Julian Kytasty, join forces for a musical celebration of love—from lyrical love songs and ballads of courting to melodies of marital mayhem and tragic separation. The program, taking place at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, is funded by a grant from the City of West Hollywood through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission and presented by Yiddishkayt. Admission is $8.

Other Happenings: Alex Gilvarry Book Soup

Gilvarry will discuss and sign From the Memoirs of a Non-Enemy Combatant: A Novel with special guest Ned Vizzini (author of It's Kind of a Funny Story) this afternoon. The event is at 4 p.m. at Book Soup. The book costs $26.95 and is available through the Book Soup website.

The Forecast: High of 60

The National Weather Service forecasts patchy fog before 10 a.m., otherwise partly sunny. The high in West Hollywood will be 60, dropping to a low around 50. Wind is expected to be calm wind, around 5 miles per hour.
