Nominate Pride 2012 Parade Honorees

The Christopher Street West event may be five months away, but nominations for community honorees to be recognized during the parade are being accepted now.

is not happening until June, but right now, Christopher Street West—the nonprofit organization that produes the celebration—needs help nominating people, groups, organizations or businesses that contribute to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in a positive way.

All nominations for the 2012 honorees must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.

"Beyond the parade, three-day festival and numerous month-long Pride cultural celebrations, the selection of the community honorees is among the most significant aspects of L.A. Pride," said Sue Sexton, CSW Board Secretary.  "For those who have been honored each year, it is a deeply felt personal triumph."

Past honorees include transgender activist Valerie Spencer, the youth of the Gay Straight Alliance Network, MAC Cosmetics, Margaret Cho, legendary activist , Asian Pacific Islander Equality Los Angeles (API Equality), television host Jane Velez-Mitchell, Black AIDS Institute Founder Phil Wilson, Producer Glenne McElhinney, PFLAG and more.
