Monday's Scoop: El Mirador, Melrose Projects and Entertainment Shuttle

The City Council faces a huge agenda including the El Mirador condo conversion, two different commercial projects on Melrose Avenue, The Avenues overlay bonus and the proposed entertainment shuttle.

Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Monday, July 2, the 184th day of 2012. Here’s what’s going on in West Hollywood today.

City Council

After tackling giant agendas for three of its past four meetings, the City Council faces another monster agenda. One of the items on that agenda deals with reducing the length of the Council meetings by limiting presentations, but Mayor Jeff Prang tells Patch that item will be put off until a future meeting since so many other items are on the agenda. The items the Council will hear are the , a zoning ordinance to create The Avenues bonus overlay, two different Melrose Avenue commercial projects (one at 8564 Melrose, the other at 8711 Melrose), an entertainment shuttle going to the Sunset Strip and Boystown areas and an item on bus benches. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber in .

Laugh Away the Blues

Monday got you down? Laugh away all that stress, and the blues, as the hosts two different shows. At 8 p.m., Mockery Monday starts with Michelle Buteau, Christian Shirm, Ed Greer and more. At 10 p.m., Comedy Bazaar starts featuring Kvon, Paul Elia, KT Tatara, Hasan Minaj, Beny Mena and more.

's north parking is the place to get some of the freshest fruits and vegetables currently in season as the weekly farmers’ market gathers there from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. It’s always a great place to stock up on locally grown foods, plus start up chats with interesting people.
