Monday's Scoop: D'Amico at Neighborhood Meeting, Urban Comics, Public Safety Commission

Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Monday, July 9, the 191st day of 2012. Here’s what’s going on in West Hollywood today.

Weho Heights Neighborhood Meeting

Councilmember John D’Amico will speak at the West Hollywood Heights Neighborhood Association annual meeting. In addition to D’Amico, items on the agenda include public safety and upcoming events sponsored by the Sunset Strip Business Association, plus the Sunset Specific Plan’s billboard initiative. The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at 1230 Horn Avenue (the building at the very top of the hill).

Mo Betta Mondays.

For over a decade, has hosted the Mo Betta’ Mondays All-Star Comedy Jam featuring urban comedians from all over the country. Here’s a chance to see comics regularly featured on Def Comedy Jam, BET, HBO, Showtime, and Comedy Central perform their routines up close and personal. Showtime is 8 p.m. at the Improv, 8162 Melrose Ave.

Public Safety Commission

The Public Safety Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. in . Items on the agenda include updates from the fire and sheriff’s department as well as plans for public safety educational outreach. The public is invited to attend this meeting.

's north parking is the place to get some of the freshest fruits and vegetables currently in season as the weekly farmers’ market gathers there from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. It’s always a great place to stock up on locally grown foods, plus start up chats with interesting people.
