Monday's Scoop: Comedy vs. Cancer, Centrum Sunset, Avenues Overlay

Comic Katy Franco laughs at her breast cancer battle at the Laugh Factory. Meanwhile the City Council considers a revised Centrum Sunset proposal as well as the Avenues overlay bonus zone.

Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Monday, August 20, the 233rd day of 2012. Here’s what’s going on in West Hollywood today.

It’s not easy to laugh at breast cancer, but stand-up comic Katy Franco manages to find the humor in the situation. Franco has turned her experience with breast cancer into a screamingly funny one-woman show, “The Breast Years of My Life,” proving once and for all that laughter is the best medicine. Franco performs her show at 8 p.n. at the For every ticket sold, a copy of Franco’s book Chemorella will be donated to a local hospital or cancer charity.

City Council

The Centrum Sunset project in the old Tower Records building at 8801 Sunset Blvd. is back before the City Council. as well as the vertical billboard, however the video sign, albeit a shortened sign, remains. Also on the Council’s agenda is the Avenues bonus overlay zone. The City Council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber in the .
