The City Council tackles yet another giant agenda that includes the city budget, Athens Services, the Sunset Lanai apartments, the robo-garage and the length of council meetings. Meanwhile, an author talks about anxiety at Book Soup.

Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Monday, July 16, the 198th day of 2012. Here’s what’s going on in West Hollywood today.

City Council

The City Council faces another long night with a huge agenda. One of those items is a at the beginning of the meeting. The Council will also discuss , which the Council approved at its June 18 meeting. Also on tap is designed by renowned architect Edward Fickett, revising the contract for trash pick-up with Athens Services and a discussion of the l. The Council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at .

Anxious about Anxiety

Anxiety is America’s most common psychological complaint; 40 millions American are said to suffer from it. But few really understand how anxiety affects people’s daily lives. Author Daniel Smith has written a memoir, Monkey Mind: A Memoir of Anxiety, which eloquently and humorously articulates life with the disease, from its most painful depths to its ridiculous absurdities. Smith discusses and signs copies of the book at , starting at 7 p.m.

's north parking is the place to get some of the freshest fruits and vegetables currently in season as the weekly farmers’ market gathers there from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. It’s always a great place to stock up on locally grown foods, plus start up chats with interesting people.
