Fundraiser Planned for Victims of New Year's Arson Incidents

After being left temporarily homeless, poet Sidni Appleseed Miles is turning 'lemons into lemonade.'

More than were set in Los Angeles, West Hollywood and Burbank within several nights around New Year's Eve, a path of destruction that left many people without homes.

One of those victims was Sidni Appleseed Myles, who said she found herself temporarily homeless after her home was a target of one of the fires.

But , who was previously featured in Patch for her poetry, has decided to turn "lemons into lemonade." She is organizing a fundraiser for victims of the arson fires that will be held at  in Valley Village on Saturday, March 10 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will honor the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles Police Department North Hollywood Division, as well as the Piedmont Senior Living Community.

Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge, who has asked the city to  for victims of the arson fires, is also scheduled to speak at the event.

The event will feature plenty of entertainment, including a DJ, the comedy of Mary Not So Contrary, hip hip artist Jayleez and rock group DC4. Myles will also be performing.

Harry Burkhart, a German national, was on suspicion of starting the string of arson fires, which terrorized Los Angeles for four nights in a row.

Many of the fires caused significant damage to residential buildings and apartments. The fires struck West Hollywood, Hollywood, North Hollywood, Valley Village, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Sun Valley and Burbank. Burkhart is facing more than 100 charges.
