Friday's Scoop: Burlesque, Laughs and Couch Commitments

Burlesque

Dubbed the “Queen of Burlesque,” Dita Von Teese knows how to put the tease in striptease. With 20 years experience as a professional burlesque dancer, Vanity Fair called her a “burlesque superheroine.” Catch Von Teese at the for her “Burlesque Strip, Strip Horray!” variety show. It’s the first of a two-night gig there. Doors open at 7 p.m. Show starts at 8 p.m.

Crashing on the Sofa

In her first novel, journalist and award winning playwright Lee Cataluna follows the adventures of a small town miscreant through his alternately hilarious and tragic life. Three Years on Doreen's Sofa is the heartwarming tale of a bumbling, affable ne’er do well crashing on his sister’s sofas through his wildly misguided attempts to go straight after serving jail time for a drug-related offense. Cataluna discusses and signs copies of the book at 7 p.m. at .

All Star Comedy

Start the weekend with some jokes as the offers three different shows, at 8 p.m., 10 p.m. and midnight. Catch some laughs with LA’s top comics including Grant Cotter, Ian Edwards, Frazer Smith, Iliza Shlesinger and Dean Cole.
