Top 20 Traffic Problems at Horn, Sunset and Holloway

For over two decades, there have been too many traffic problems involving this location, and still our city has not fixed any of these problems and is still going to hear the plans for the mega development of the Centrum Sunset project.

Even with the city's own final environmental impact report of this project adding over 1,200 vehicles a day, adding over 550 u-turns a day and having an entrance and or exit on Horn Avenue is sheer lunacy when these other 20 traffic problems still exist.

Here are 20 problems the city needs to remedy and fix as soon as possible:

1. Cars backed up to exit south on Horn Avenue can be at times 8 to 10 or more cars waiting for the light to turn green. And now all the cars lineup up to leave Horn can make it out on that green light in time.
2. If there is already gridlock on Sunset then vehicles waiting to go south at Horn when light turns green will not be able to exit Horn timely.
3. If an illegal u-turn is made at the base of Horn Avenue from a driver originally heading East then cars waiting to go south on Horn when light turns green will not be able to do so timely.
4. Cross walk button and light sequence repeatedly breaks or does not work properly which cause pedestrians to not be able to cross Sunset and thus cars waiting to exit south on Horn cannot do so timely.
5. Cars heading east or west on Sunset have for years run the red light and continue to do so that cars trying to exit south on Horn when light turns green cannot do so timely.
6. West Hollywood Sheriffs deputies still do not monitor cars running red lights on Horn and give moving traffic citations so problem still exists and there is a high risk for an accident.
7. Cars turning up Horn make all day and night u-turns in street which delays cars heading south on Horn to exit Horn when light turns green.
8. Cars turning up Horn that u-turn in driveway of Shoreham Villas also delay cars heading south on Horn to exit on greenlight.
9. Cars turning up Horn that u-turn in Spago’s driveway delay other cars trying to exit south on Horn when light turns green.
10. Cars turning up Horn that u-turn in Sunset Patios driveway delay other cars heading south on Horn to exit on green light timely.
11. Cars that park illegally in red zone on Horn south of Sunset Patios driveway cause traffic flow problem for double south bound lanes to exit on green light timely on to Sunset.
12. Cars that double park in the red zone in the base of Horn in the only north bound lane up Horn so that they can run in to Coffee Bean delay traffic northbound on Horn from Sunset.
13. Cars that stop or double park in red zone on Horn in the only single north bound lane for other reasons not connected to Coffee Bean cause traffic circulation problems for traffic flow up Horn Avenue.
14. Cars that are stopped, parked or double parked in the red zone in the only single north bound lane at the bottom of Horn cause a serious traffic collision problem as then cars heaing north on Horn Avenue try to go around this stopped/parked car and then go in the oncoming south bound traffic lane on Horn thus setting up potential head on collisions with other cars.
15. Cars heading west on Sunset that make an illegal left turn down Holloway delay traffic an violate posted “no left turn” on Holloway.
16. Cars that u-turn across the double solid yellow lines on Sunset when they are driving east and want to turn around and head west delay traffic and may cause traffic accidents.
17. Cars that turn up Horn and then try to enter in to the “exit only” driveway of 8801 Sunset delay traffic circulation and may cause traffic accidents.
18. Cars that turn north up Horn and then park temporarily on the sidewalk and driveway of Spago’s cause traffic circulation problems as other cars then make there driveway u-turns predominantly in the driveways of Shoreham Villas and Sunset Patios.
19. Cars that head south on Horn and do not chose the left or right lane to wait for the light to turn green then block additional cars behind them where many cars could turn right on the red light to head west on to Sunset.
20. Post Office trucks, UPS trucks, Fed Ex trucks, food delivery cars and vans park and double park in areas on Horn that cause blind spots, are illegal and block traffic circulation up and down Horn Avenue.
