How Many Lawsuits Can the City Handle If Centrum Sunset Gets Approved?

City of West Hollywood's staff suddenly recommended approval of the Centrum Sunset project and now many lawsuits may be filed if it's approved. Can our city handle these kind of litigation costs?

With recent news of the city staff suddenly recommending approval for proposed Centrum Sunset Project, I was wondering how many lawsuits will be filed if this happens at the council meeting Monday.

There are four sets of law firms representing four possible plaintiffs against Centrum. IAC/Barr Diller’s company, which is the building adjacent to the proposed project. There are three additional law firms representing two individuals and one neighborhood group.

So how will our city's general fund last if numerous lawsuits are filed against the City of West Hollywood for a long list of causes of action ranging from violation of CEQA, traffic circulation, emergency vehicle access, violation of historic preservation ordinances and the list of other reasons to be determined?

And what about the unforeseen lawsuits that are not visible on the surface right now. Could city council approval on Centrum bring four to five more lawsuits if this project gets approval? Can our city handle this kind of litigation cost, which will create a giant sucking sound as it empties our general fund for our city? Will our city become like other other cities and become broke because of this?
