Low-Flow Toilet Giveaway for West Hollywood Property Owners on Saturday May 11, 2013

The City of West Hollywood is partnering with the West Basin Municipal Water District to give away free low-flow toilets to property owners in West Hollywood . The event will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, from 9 a.m. until noon. Advance registration is required, and the location of the pick-up will be given at the time of registration.

This is an important water conservation measure that will reduce the amount of water used per flush by more than 2 gallons, which can add up to thousands of gallons annually.

Residents may qualify for up to two free toilets if they currently have toilets on their property that were installed prior to January 1, 1992 that use 3.5 gallons or more per flush. In order to qualify, residents must live in a single-family home, condominium, apartment, townhome or duplex. The new toilets are Western Pottery high-efficiency toilets that use 1.28 gallons per flush. They measure 28 5/8” with a comfort-level seat.

  • Pre-register for the program at www.waterprograms.com/westbasin, or by calling the West Basin Water District at (866) 861-0784.  
  • Pick up new toilets on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Bring a photo ID and a current water bill.  
  • Toilets must be installed within three weeks of pick-up. 
  • Old toilets must be returned on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at a location to be announced. The toilets’ porcelain will be ground up and used as road-based material, and the metal parts will be recycled.
