5 Holiday Happenings Around Weho

There's more than a few opportunities to revel in the good cheer this weekend.

Weho's holiday calendar this year is as plump as Santa's bag. To help you narrow down those options, we have hand-picked five area holiday events worth checking out this weekend. Choose from comedy shows, charitable feasts and decadent treats.

1. Twelve Days of Christmas: Craving some Christmas cookies? How about eggnog custard gingerbread cookies from Canada? Chef Gordon Ramsay is counting down the days until Christmas at the hotel with some decadent treats, including sweet tamales with mangoes and dulce de leche (Mexico), rice pudding with currants, raisins and cinnamon (Denmark), candy cane soufflé (Switzerland) and snowman baked meringue (Belgium). Desserts are priced at $14 each.

2. A Very Merry Jewish Christmas: Those looking for a non-traditional holiday this weekend (Dec. 24 and 25) can spend Christmas at the on Sunset Boulevard over Chinese food and comics—Jewish and gentile alike. Each ticket ($15) includes a veggie roll, white rice, chicken or veggie entree and a fortune cookie. The 21 and over show is taking place in the venue's Original Room. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Top comedians will greet and help serve guests, as well as perform live shows following each of the five meals served throughtout the day. Those attending are encouraged to come one hour prior to the dinner services taking place at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

4) Religious Services: If you're a member of a church or synagogue, chances are your congregation will be celebrating with festive songs and readings this weekend. St. Victor Church will have two masses on Christmas Eve (5:30 p.m. and midnight) and three on Christmas (8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.). For those celebrating Hanukkah, Kol Ami will be holding a Chinese Dinner at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday marks the sixth night of the Jewish holiday.

5) DIY Holiday Event: Here's an idea: Don't look for a Christmas event—make one! Get some friends together, warm up your vocal cords and do some old-fashioned door-to-door caroling. Maybe invite your neighbors over, bake cookies and watch some hokey Christmas movies? Sounds like a good time to me.

Whatever you decide to do this holiday season, have fun, be merry and be safe. Happy Holidays from the West Hollywood Patch crew!
