Saturday's Scoop: Music Festival, Veggies and Shakespeare

The Sunset Strip Music Festival is rocking around the clock. A vegetarian cooking demonstration sizzles in Weho Library, while Shakespeare is in Kings Road Park.

The Sunset Strip Music Festival offers a full slate of activities for its final day. A street fair will be set up on Sunset Boulevard between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard with music stages and vendors, while the clubs offer a non-stop showcase of bands. Among the highlights are De La Soul at 5 p.m., Far East Movement at 6:50 p.m. and Steve Aoki at 8:15 p.m. on the East Stage. On the West Stage, highlights include Bad Religion at 5:50 p.m., The Offspring at 7:30 p.m. and Marilyn Manson at 9:30 p.m. Highlights in the clubs include Wallpaper at 4:10 p.m.; Das Racist at 6:20 p.m. and Clockwork at 12:35 a.m. at the . At , Leif Garrett performs at 6 p.m., Hurricane at 7:30 p.m. and Beowulf at 9:55 p.m. At the V Sevani performs at 1:30 p.m., True Press at 6:45 p.m. and Patience Price at 7:30 p.m.

Veggies

Want tips for making your vegetable dishes more exciting? The is offering a vegetarian cooking demonstration. If you’re new to vegetarian cooking or just want to learn some new recipes, this is the place for you. Samples of the dishes prepared will be served. The demonstration is from 3 to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Shakespeare in the Park

Take a bit of thwarted romance, add in some cross-dressing, secret identities, witty wordplay and a healthy dose of overall silliness and you’ve got the makings of a great play. In this case, the great play is Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice. The Classical Lab Theater performs the beloved play as part of the city’s Shakespeare in the Park series. The comedy plays today-Sunday at 4 p.m. in . Admission is free.
