A book signing for the new autobiography of the late Johnny Ramone, while versatile singer/composer/producer Jon Brion does his monthly show at Largo. Plus drag queens and last chance to vote for your favorite pet store!

Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Friday, April 27, the 118th day of 2012. Here’s what’s happening in West Hollywood today.

Brion at Largo

Largo staple Jon Brion is back for his monthly appearance there. With an avid following, this music producer (artists ranging from Kanye West to Aimee Mann to Rufus Wainwright) and film composer (Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and more) also plays piano, guitar, bass and drums as well as sings during his shows, amazing audiences with his versatility. The Ramones

Guitarist Johnny Ramone of punk rock band sensation The Ramones may be long gone (he died of prostate cancer in 2004), but he’s got a new autobiography out, Commando: The Autobiography of Johnny Ramone. Ranked by Rolling Stone as #16 on its list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time,” the late Ramone is getting praise for the painful honesty in his words. If you missed the book signing with Tommy Ramone (the last remaining member of the original band) Thursday night at Amoeba Music, here’s another chance to get the book and have Ramone sign it – at 6 p.m. at Marc Jacobs Bookmarc, 8407 Melrose Place.
