Westside Youth Orchestra Fundraising Concert

The Westside Youth Orchestra, with music director/conductor Lowell Crystal; and the Westside Jr. Chamber Orchestra, Shayna Rhodes, music director/conductor; will present a fundraising concert at 3 p.m., (doors open at 2:30 p.m.) Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Salter Theatre, 241 Moreno Dr. (corner of Moreno and Durant.) The orchestra is made up of students aged 7 to 17 years old. They attend several local schools including, UCLA Lab School, City School Charter, New West Charter, John Burroughs, El Rodeo, Beverly Hills High, Notre Dame and Summit View. Musicians will play selected pieces from the Nutcracker Suite, Titanic, and Bolero. The WYO is raising money to attend the Worldstrides Heritage Festival competition at Disneyland in April. Last year the group won the silver level for orchestra and a Maestro award for Lowell. Tickets are $20; $15 for those 12 and under. For more information, visit www.westsideyouthorchestra.org.
