The city recently remembered Lt. James "Jimmy" Farrell, who died from leukemia on May 23.

"The City of West Hollywood has suffered the loss of a true friend, a remarkable human being, a beloved community member and an exemplary sheriff’s deputy," the city said in a news release.

Jimmy loved West Hollywood. He genuinely cared about this city. He deeply cared about its residents. If you ask anyone in this town, they will tell you that if there was a public safety issue or a neighborhood problem that needed to be addressed, Jimmy was the man for the job. Put him in a room with a group of disgruntled residents attending a Neighborhood Watch meeting and by the end of the meeting every single person in that room truly believed that Jimmy understood each of them and really cared about their concerns. ... We were all fortunate to have known him and love him as our friend. Jimmy is forever part of our West Hollywood family, and he will be dearly missed.
