What a depressing list......

I understand the frustration over less consequential stuff getting the most attention, but it does reinforce the obvious point that the anger and attacks toward the city ond its government that used to dominate the content here only appeals to a very small minority of people, who don't remotely represent the attitudes of this city's residents as a whole.

I agree Scott.

HA,GOOD ONE!!!....THAT'S WHY A FEW T-H-O-U-S-A-N-D PEOPLE SIGNED THE TERM LIMITS PETITION THAT WILL PUT IT ON THE MARCH BALLOT......MORE THAN A "SMALL MINORITY".....AND, ONLY A FEW THOUSAND PEOPLE EVEN VOTE IN WEST HOLLYWOOD, SO YOU DO THE MATH.....YOU SIMPLY CAN'T BE ANY FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH....

Say whatever you wish...there's no denying the success of
West Hollywood, and the fact that the majority of citizens support our city council.

Unfortunately, people, even progressives who are normally smarter than this, have a knee-jerk reaction positive to term limits. I'd guess a lot of people who signed the petition were thinking of how angry they are at the Repubs in the House and said, hey, I wish we had term limits there, and signed it.
Plus, the pro-petition people made a big deal of saying "you don't have to be for them - we're just asking to put it on the ballot." Now ME wants to have it both ways. And there are now further signs that the pro-term limits forces are getting even more support from important Repub politicians. Why? Because they are using this measure as a Trojan Horse to try to make this progressive community more to their liking. They'd love to point to signs that WeHo is no longer a progressive bastion. My guess is it will pass without active opposition. Not sure that Heilemann and Land even care, particularly since I hear the latter had already decided not to run again long before this - and of course it won't have any decade until after the possible second term of the next President. But the malcontents who populate this thread need to find some way to have a victory, no matter how Pyrrhic the victory might be, no matter how much they allow anti-progressive outside conservative forces to sneak under the tent.

UGH, WON'T EVEN RESPOND TO SUCH MADE-UP FOOLISHNESS, CEPT TO ASK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO MAKE OUR CITY A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE (clue: commenting on websites only doesn't count)....IF YOU FEEL SOOOOO STRONGLY AGAINST TERM LIMITS AND FOR THE CURRENT COUNCIL, GET YUR BUTT OUT THERE AND DO SOME WORK
jose January 2, 2013 at 08:31 pm
There goes that "what have you done" comment again. Sounds familiar....looks like "ME" is one of the three spelling bee malcontents. All three of them are very self important in their own minds.
me January 2, 2013 at 11:01 pm
haha, good one josie....what have YOU done to make weho a better place?....or do you even live here???
Marie Cunningham January 2, 2013 at 11:53 pm
Hey everyone, please be kind to each other. No personal attacks.
The above list is based on the top stories read during the year. Ms. Lightfoot, I'll check on the most-read blogs...that would be a cool post. Happy New Year, Marie
jose January 3, 2013 at 12:31 am
Thank you Ms. Cunningham. But since Patch's attempt in asking readers for the top 10 stories failed, (Patch adjusted with "Most Read") I guess "Most Read Blogs" might entertain some. Why not top 10 comment contributors?
