Several vehicles parked in the garage were swamped. County fire department crews responded to the scene to halt the water flow. The water was shut off by 4:30 a.m.
The break impacted 20 "multi-family residences," according to Jane Galbraith of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. who said crews expected to have service restored by early afternoon.
Department of Water and Power workers on the scene said that a new water pipe has been put in place and the construction should be completed by day's end.
