WeHo to Celebrate Arbor Day With Tree Planting Event on April 13

Community members are invited to plant a tree to celebrate the holiday.

West Hollywood may be a dense and crowded city, but it still loves its trees.

"You'll barely find a block where we don't find space to plant a tree and do our part to preserve and protect our environment and clean our air," West Hollywood City Council Mayor Jeffrey Prang said Monday.

With that in mind, the city council voted this week to recognize Sunday, April 13 as Arbor Day.

The city's Public Facilities Commission will host a tree planting event in commemoration of the holiday, to be held at 9 a.m. at Sal Guarriello Veterans' Memorial Park, located at the intersection of Holloway Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard.

"We're looking forward to planting more trees in our city and making it more beautiful than it already is," said Public Facilities Commission Chairwoman Elena Goldenberg. "We're inviting everyone to come to this event--anybody who wants to plant a tree in honor of somebody."
