Week in Review: Weho Killings, Plastic Bag Ban and Rapper Arrested

Crime coverage for West Hollywood was heavy this week. On Monday, deputies arrested a suspect in connection with the triple slaying in a West Hollywood apartment. On Wednesday, sheriff investigators held a news conference and said two of the homicide victims bought and sold marijuana illegally from local dispensaries.

The city of West Hollywood warned residents about coyote sightings around the area and advised animal owners not to leave their pets outside unsupervised and to bring in food and water dishes.

West Hollywood is participating in the global event Fashion's Night Out, which encourages shopping and will feature the city's retailers.

A suspect was arrested in West Hollywood's triple homicide that occurred Aug. 26 on the 600 block of N. Kings Road.

TUESDAY

While visiting the Cheese Corner's Laurent Bonjour at the farmers market, you'll feel like you've just left West Hollywood and arrived in Paris for an afternoon picnic.

We learned that the suspect in the triple homicide was allegedly in possession of multiple pounds of marijuana at the time of his arrest. Police believe the pot found with Harold Yong Park may have been taken from the apartment in West Hollywood where three men were found dead.

In our story Local Officials Push for Plastic Bag Ban, we learned that a bill being debated by the state Senate would prohibit the use of plastic grocery bags in West Hollywood and throughout California.

WEDNESDAY

The Butch Voices conference is coming to West Hollywood in October and will address issues regarding sexual orientation and identity, including the "Butch" stigma.

Sheriff Links Weho Killings and Pot Sale has video and pictures of the news conference discussing a possible link between the triple homicides and marijuana dispensaries.

THURSDAY

Rapper T.I. and his wife were arrested in Weho on suspicion of drug possession Wednesday night. Deputies say they smelled marijuana and discovered additional drugs in the musician's car, which had been pulled over for a traffic violation. Weho deputies released the couple Thursday morning.

Workers protested outside the Hyatt Andaz Hotel in Weho on Thursday morning.

A car-sharing service said it planned to expand its business into Weho. Melissa Hebert of LAXCarShare held a launch party at Lola's Restaurant and talked about extending her vehicle fleet to our town.

On Thursday, a court rejected a conservative group's Proposition 8 lawsuit. The lawsuit sought to force the governor and attorney general to appeal Judge Vaughn Walker's ruling overturning the same-sex marriage ban.

FRIDAY

With Labor Day weekend just around the corner, our contributor Jaela Austen compiled a list Where to Go When in Weho.
