Week in Review: Smoking Ban and Sunset Time

Fashion was everything in West Hollywood this week as the city geared up for Fashion's Night Out. There was plenty of movement in the City Council meeting Tuesday night with the approval of the Sunset Time project and the outdoor smoking ban. The City Council also supported a statewide project that encourages women to serve on boards and commissions.

On Tuesday, West Hollywood Patch also debuted the About Town blog where you will find out what people are talking about in the city. Here's a recap of what happened in West Hollywood, including the ruling on the military's  "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. 

MONDAY

In our story, Weho's Assemblyman Pushes for Iran Sanctions, we learned that Mike Feuer's bill, which is awaiting the governor's signature, aims to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions by prohibiting contracts of $1 million or more between the state of California and companies doing significant business with the country's energy sector.

Deputies have linked a recent triple slaying with illegal marijuana sales, but the manager of a dispensary that has not been linked to the investigation says his intention is to run an above-board business.

LAUSD announced a tech-savvy upgrade to its truancy system. An electronic report will be generated each month with letters to be sent home about students who have unexcused absences or tardies.

TUESDAY
