Week in Review: L.A. Marathon, Sweetzer Firebombing Suspect and a Cultural Resource Designation

Also this week, another year's worth of 10-foot tall guitar sculptures hits the Sunset Strip.

This week in West Hollywood, a woman suspected of earlier this month was arrested, two of the city's few remaining examples of pre-1920s Craftsman architecture design were granted Cultural Resource Designation, and more than 23,000 runners and walkers raced through Weho for the L.A. Marathon.

Two single-family structures at constructed in 1912 have been granted Cultural Resource Designation by the city. The structures were evaluated by the city’s consulting firm, Architectural Resources Group, and granted Cultural Resource Designation by the City Council upon recommendation by the Historic Preservation Commission.

An ordinance set to go before City Council later this spring could give West Hollywood nightclubs, bars and restaurants more flexibility in hiring event promoters. Code Compliance Supervisor Daniel Mick has suggested the city change its current code and allow the bars and clubs to get a “” that would cover any promoter hired.

Another year's worth of 10-foot tall guitar sculptures hit the Sunset Strip Monday with the unveiling of . The guitars, which celebrate people and places unique to the Strip’s history, were auctioned off in December 2011, with 100 percent of proceeds going to charity.

City Council is meeting at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. Council will consider approving a settlement agreement between the city of West Hollywood, Klean W. Hollywood LLC, and 852 Hilldale LLC, among others, to settle the litigation between the parties and place certain conditions on the operation of the Klean Treatment Center at 840 - 854½ Hilldale Ave., according to the agenda.
