The city released a final list of candidates for the 2013 City Council election. Read about that and more top stories from Dec. 9-15.

1. Seven challengers seek to unseat Mayor Jeffrey Prang and Councilman John Duran in the 2013 West Hollywood City Council election.

2. Los Angeles area school districts reacted to the school shooting in Connecticut by increasing security and mobilizing crisis teams to provide support for parents and students

3. The Yes on Measure C campaign for city council term limits announced Lauren Meister as its chairwoman.

4. Closing arguments in the trial of actress Robyn Cohen's lawsuit against Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling revealed Cohen seeks $400,000 plus punitive damages for out-of-pocket expenses and permanent psychological trauma she suffered after a fire at Sterling's Weho apartment building.

5. The city installed new electric vehicle charging stations at Plummer Park and will add new chargers to parking structures on Kings Road and at the West Hollywood Library by the end of the year.
