Waiting for Gay Pride?

A festively colored lavender bicycle has been locked to a parking meter on Santa Monica Boulevard in Boystown for weeks.

A bicycle painted painted lavender with matching colored tires is locked to a parking meter in the 8500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard across from the Ramada Inn.

People in the area say the bike has been locked there for weeks. Some say they are amazed the tires haven't been stolen, but others point out it is not a mountain bike, so the tires have less value to thieves. Others say the lavender color is what makes it less desirable to thieves.

Patch wonders how much longer the bike will remain there before the owner retrieves it. Or perhaps the bike is just claiming a good spot for viewing the LA Pride Parade which will come down Santa Monica Boulevard on June 10.
