  • Wounded SoCal Marine Becomes Underwear ModelDespite losing his leg in Afghanistan in a roadside bomb attack, dealing with alcoholism, depression and the death of his brother, Venice Beach resident and former U.S. Marine Alex Minsky has turned his life around. 

  • Brentwood Teen Dies Following Vehicle Accident. The as yet unnamed 15-year-old boy was struck by a car while crossing Sunset Boulevard and Hartzell Street in Pacific Palisades on June 13. He succumbed to his wounds last weekend at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center.

  • Sewage Spill Prompts Malibu Beach Closure. Los Angeles County health officials were notified Tuesday by Malibu city officials that an unknown amount of sewage may have entered the ocean at 19830 Pacific Coast Highway, at Big Rock Drive. A closure was placed in effect until early Friday morning.
     
  • Plastic Surgeon Acquitted of Secretly Taping Undressed Female PatientsDr. Lance Everett Wyatt was found not guilty of all charges, including four misdemeanor counts of surreptitious filming and one misdemeanor count each of battery and sexual battery. However, he has not yet been cleared by the state medical board, and a third party still must be present during examinations.

  • Villaraigosa: ‘I’m Moving to Venice’. At first it was rumor and speculation, but in an interview with KPCC, outgoing Los Angeles City Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa confirmed that he is indeed moving to Venice, noting, “I love that part of the city, and it's always been a great supporter of mine."
