'Terminator 2' Actor Charged in Domestic Violence Assault

If convicted, Edward Furlong faces up to four years in state prison.

By City News Service

"Terminator 2" actor Edward Furlong pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of assaulting his girlfriend and threatening her if she called police.

Furlong had two pending misdemeanor battery cases and violated a restraining order by returning to the woman's West Hollywood home on May 21 and allegedly assaulting her, according to Deputy District Attorney Linda Loftfield.

He also allegedly damaged a laptop computer and photo equipment.

Furlong, 35, is charged with dissuading a witness by force or threat, assault by means to likely to produce great bodily injury and vandalism over $400—all felonies—and disobeying a domestic restraining order, a misdemeanor, Loftfield said.

The actor entered his not guilty plea at the Airport Branch Courthouse and is being held on $100,000 bail, the prosecutor said.

The two pending misdemeanor cases involving alleged incidents last Nov. 21 and Jan. 13 against the same victim were dismissed after prosecutors included the two charges in the new case.

If convicted, Furlong faces up to four years in state prison. He is scheduled to return to court July 1 to get a preliminary hearing date.
