Ruptured Water Main Floods Underground Garage on Formosa
Service is restored to all customers at 9:10 a.m., according to DWP officials.
Crews worked today to dry up an underground garage flooded when a water main ruptured in West Hollywood, unleashing a 30,000-gallon torrent, fire department officials said.
The break occurred in the 1100 block of North Formosa Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Los Angeles County fire Capt. Rick Brandelli. It flooded both the street and a nearby garage, where the water at one point rose to a height of six feet and damaged six vehicles, including a Porsche, a Volkswagen and an SUV, he said.
Authorities learned of the mishap from area residents who heard a pop, came out, saw gushing water and called it in, Brandelli told a camera crew at the scene. He said the volume of water released as a result of the rupture is estimated at 30,000 gallons.

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews were called to the scene and worked with firefighters to pump the water out of the garage, said County fire dispatch Supervisor Andre Gougis. Firefighters left the scene around 3:45 a.m., he said.
