Rainbow Crosswalk Construction Begins in Weho

Construction on the custom made crosswalks, set for the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard, began Monday.

City officials have revealed that the rainbow crosswalks being installed at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard are on schedule to be completed by the end of October, as construction began Monday.

The crosswalks first appeared in West Hollywood during the month of June, which represents Gay Pride month. But as a result of their popularity, City Council voted on August 20 to make the crosswalks permanent.

In a statement released by the city, it was reiterated that construction will take place during times where "there will be minimal pedestrian and automobile traffic."
