PHOTOS: West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval Gets Political

From Mitt Romney and his dog to "Binders Full of Women," the upcoming presidential election provides inspiration for homemade costume creations.

Slowly scooting down Santa Monica Boulevard as throngs of people crowded to catch a glimpse and take photos, a man dressed as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney sat behind the wheel of a cardboard car as his friend—dressed as a dog—poked his head out the roof.

The elaborate costume mocks the 12-hour drive from Massachusetts to Canada the Romney family took back in 1983 with the family dog, Seamus, in a crate fastened to the roof of the car.

The "Crate-Gate" getup was a hit with the crowd, as were other politically-themed outfits seen at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval.

"My favorite one is the 'Binders Full of Women,'" said Greg Ord, a 22-year-old UCLA student.

The "Binders Full of Women" costume pokes fun at a comment Romney made during the second presidential debate. It was the most popular political costume of the evening, with multiple variations spotted throughout the night.

Also making Weho Halloween appearances were people dressed as President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and former President Ronald Reagan.

"I'm noticing the best costumes you can possibly have," Ord said. "This is the best place to be for Halloween in L.A."
