Earlier this month, volunteers from a Los Angeles Home Depot store and the band 3 Doors Down fixed up a veterans' facility at the Veterans Administration in West Los Angeles. Stories like these, 911 of them, are featured in an extensive photo display on Patch's sister site, HuffingtonPost.com. The images were collected by Patch editors across the country and tell the stories of lives lost on Sept. 11, Ground Zero heroism and the continuing toll from the wars that followed. They also reflect the resiliency of Americans, their hope in their children and the extraordinary changes for good wrought by a disaster that we now mark on its 10th anniversary.
