Moby, Shepard Fairey and others DJ to Support Marriage Equality

A dance benefit was held in Hollywood to continue the fight to overturn Proposition 8, California's ban on same-sex marriage.

 MoveOn.org, the Courage Campaign and others hosted "Dance for Equality" at the Avalon Club in Hollywood on Wednesday night, a fundraiser to overturn Prop. 8 and restore marriage equality.

A-list musicians Moby, The Crystal Method, artist Shepard Fairey and KCRW's Jason Bentley also performed live DJ sets to benefit the Courage Campaign in support of the continued fight against the ban on gay marriage.

Moby said: “I am so proud to stand with the Courage Campaign and the millions of families and individuals across this country who wage a daily struggle for equality.”

Actresses Lisa Edelstein, Ginnifer Goodwin, Patricia Velasquez and Director Paul Haggis showed up for a presentation of a "live" a staged reading of real-life excerpts from Prop. 8 trials.

Courage Campaign has been a major leader on this fight in California, and the money donated through ticket sales and merchandise went directly to their campaign to help overturn Prop. 8, organizers said.

The latest Prop. 8 appeal will soon be heard by the California Supreme Court. A request was made recently by Attorney General Kamala Harris that the order prohibiting same-sex marriages be dismissed.
