UPDATED: Hundreds Without Power in Weho

839 residents in West Hollywood West area are still without power as of 7 p.m. Power initially went out at 4:15 p.m. for 1,498 residents due to a downed power line. SoCal Edison not sure when power will be restored.

2ND UPDATE: Edison reports that power was restored to all residents Thursday at 2:41 a.m.

UPDATE: As of 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, power remains out for 839 residents. SoCol Edison officials do not have an estimate for when power will be restored, but said the cause of the outage was due to palm fronds on the wires.

Over eight hundred West Hollywood residents are still without power as of 7 p.m.

Southern California Edison reports a downed power line caused power to go out about 4:15 p.m. for 1,498 residents living in the area bounded by La Cienega, Beverly, San Vicente and Santa Monica boulevards on the east, south, west and north sides respectively.

“At this time, 839 residents are still without power,” said spokesperson Vanessa McGrady. “We don’t know what the cause is, but we thank everyone for their patience.”

McGrady did not have an estimate for when power would be restored and was unsure if the continued outage was related to the initial downed power line.

She reminded that residents should never touch a downed line, but should call SoCal Edison.

On a related matter, Mayor Jeff Prang sent out a reminder about a planned power outage in the 1400 block of Harper Avenue scheduled for Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
