Friday's Scoop: Weho Elementary to Host 2nd Annual Apple Fitness Challenge

In an effort to become an 'Apple Distinguished School,' Weho Elementary is hoping to raise about $62,000 this year to update technology at the school.

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Friday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: Apple Fitness Challenge

has already spent $150,000 on technology, including 80 iPod Touches, 51 iPads, and recently 100 Mac laptops. Children need pledges in order to participate in the Apple Fitness Challenge, which involves obstacle courses, kick ball basketball toss and more. Last year's event raised $31,000. Their new goal is $62,000 in total, which works out to about $170 per child.

Reminder: Modified Friday Schedule

The only services available at today will be at the first-floor Permit Parking and Cashier counters. As James Mills , City Hall operates under a “modified Friday” schedule every other week of the year, which results in most City Hall employees having those Fridays off. The Forecast: Sunny, 81

It's going to be another sunny day in West Hollywood. The National Weather Service forecasts calm wind and clear skies, with a high near 81 degrees and a low around 52. Fog is expected to roll in after 10 p.m.
