Spring may be over, but the City of West Hollywood is offering residents more reasons to clean out their closets for its third annual "WehoGrnWknd." An electronic waste collection and document shredding event and a two-day citywide yard sale begins July 20.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 20, West Hollywood residents and businesses can drop off old electronics or shred old documents on site for free. West Hollywood and California Recycles, a full service recycling company, are collaborating to prevent identity theft and electronics from contaminating the environment. Old computer monitors, printers, stereos and more will be collected at the City Hall parking lot located at 8300 Santa Monica Blvd. A complete list of acceptable items can be found here.
Neighbors are encouraged to collaborate for the citywide yard sale on July 20 and 21 to reduce their carbon footprint. The city is posting a full list of all registered participants online with hours and locations of each yard sale on its website. Those interested must apply for a permit by downloading the application and returning it to the second floor of City Hall. Permits are limited so residents are encouraged to register early.
